The Custom of Klidona

The Custom of Klidona

Expired

The custom of Klidonas is revived each year from 21 to 23 June on Paros, when residents light bonfires and burn the Mayday wreaths (known as Maides).

They then jump over the fires, which exorcises evil spirits, while another tradition reveals future husbands to single women.

Notable festivals are held in Prodromos, Naoussa and Aliki, with seafood delicacies and traditional music continue until dawn.
